Using your hips properly in the downswing is essential for clubhead speed. But, how do tour pros make it look so easy???

Well, In this this video RotarySwing will show you the key move that Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods all have made in the golf swing to get the hips to clear.

  1. The pitcher comparison is apt, but the description of the sequence isn’t
quite accurate. After loading weight onto the trail leg, the pitcher’s
first move isn’t to “externally rotate” the lead leg. It’s to actively push
off the trail leg to power the rotation of the hips (counter-clockwise for
a right-hander) and drive the lead leg forward. This can be by way of
simply “falling” onto the lead leg, or it can be preceded by a slight
increase of the load on and sinking into the rear leg (a la Tiger Woods,
Rory McIlroy, et al). But the lead leg doesn’t rotate on its own; it’s
driven into rotation by the thrust of the trail leg and hip rotation.

  2. I’ve been having this problem of sliding hips and not clearing them which
resulted in a push. This is rather helpful!
