Beginner Golf is usually about precision over distance
Beginner’s Guide to Golf
In this episode of the Beginner’s Guide to golf Manny and I find ourselves at Cardinal Golf East Wing going shot for shot on a Par 5. It would appear as though Manny has the advantage because he is consistently hitting it further than I. When the shot calls for precise execution though I had the advantage, and everything changes. On our third shots I chose to go with a club longer than I needed and swung easy focusing on solid contact. This resulted in a great approach that almost found the green. Manny went with the exact distance club and chose to swing a bit harder to generate additional spin hoping to stick it close and have an opportunity for birdie. Things didn’t go as he had planned. We all love to get that elusive birdie, but it usually requires executing difficult shots. Play safe precise golf and enjoy every Par you get. Your handicap will be far better for it. As a beginner this should help you realize that hitting it long isn’t necessarily your best path to improvement. Hitting controlled precise shots is the real way to lower your score.
