Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – Far too often I meet with players who are mishitting their fairway shots due to the club contacting the ground prior to reaching the golf ball. This causes issues with distance control, trajectory control and overall shot consistency.
One of the biggest keys to playing great golf is to make ball the ground contact every time. The majority of these poor contact issues are the result of a misunderstanding of what the club and thus the body must do to launch the ball in the air. Once these misconceptions are cleared up and the player understands what truly must happen with the body and club, much more solid fairway shots appear.
In this video I explain what you must do with your body and club to ensure you make ball then ground contact every time with your fairway shots. I also share a simple drill that you can use to help you better learn and feel this move and thus make it easier to transfer the motion to the golf course.
Now that you are contacting the ball first on your fairway shots, you may want to consider some ways to give you shorter shots into the green. To learn how to add 20 yards to your drives check out this video
