In today’s video I visit Jason Broadway the PGA Professional and Pro Shop and fitting centre Manger at West Cornwall Golf Club to discuss the benefits to beginner and high handicap golfers of having their golf clubs custom fitted.

When I first started playing golf I bought a selection of second hand clubs and now I am starting to improve I want to improve the clubs I use or change up to more modern versions.
So with this in mind I take in my second hand Taylormade R15 Driver to be fitted to me and whilst there also try out the Titleist 917 D2 Driver and see if that can improve my game even further.

HI THERE. MY NAME IS JOHN RO OGDEN, BUT BIG OGGIE WILL DO…

I am a newbie golfer, 51 Years old and lets say, hmm a BIG lad… But that doesn’t stop me, I have a passion for the sport and although I have lots to learn I want to prove to people that Golf can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, size, shape or experience.

BIG OGGIE GOLF is my new channel dedicated to ALL golfers.

We can’t all be professional or scratch standard and many of us will never get close, but we can still have FUN.

So there will be regular Vlogs, Product reviews and Golf Course reviews from around the UK as well as Worldwide.

We will meet many golfers and golf fans along the way and I hope you will get to see things a little differently from the usual Golf Youtube Channels out there.

There will also be lots of fun to be had and once the channel is established regular Competitions for Channel subscribers to take part in.
Golf sometimes gets a bad press and whilst occasionally that might be justified I hope to show it as not quite as stuffy and stereotyped as one would imagine.
There will also be my thoughts on what makes golf seem so stressful for people just starting out, and I will be looking at ways of making that all important first step a little easier.

  1. sorry disagree as bobby jones matched his shafts by feel, his scores still hold up today.industry is smoke and mirrors.

  2. Hi Oggie! Loving the videos, I find it fascinating watching the journey you’re going on! I have been for irons and putting fitting myself and have found it very useful. Ive been playing for about a year and a half and i felt that especially after getting new irons, my game has become so much more consistent and my handicap has already dropped 13 shots this year! Keep up the great videos!

    1. +Andrew Smythe thank you Andrew. I am looking forward to improving my handicap in time, but whatever happens I am just going to play golf and have fun too. You are doing so well though and I am inspired to see that with hard work I can do the same. Thank you for being that inspiration right now.

  3. Very brave video to do. I applaud you for it. It took me about fifteen years to get my first fitting, mainly because lack of funds stopped me buying new, but even after all those years I never thought I was good enough. Well done.

    1. Peter Vincent thank you Peter. I hope the video showed that anyone can benefit from trying out a fitting. What wasn’t on camera was all the hints and advice I got about how to improve my swing as well for future reference. So sometimes even though it’s a bit nerve wracking it is rather good to have someone view what you do.

    1. +Richard Nicholson thank you Richard, if there is anything you would like me to film about please just let me know.
