  1. Visual purposes make sense: distance or ease of seeing a target below ground versus above ground. We shall see if it influence pace of play. I do agree it is important to be clear with playing partners including but not limited to the flagstick.

  2. Great topic! Based on your testing, would you say a miss that struck the flagstick would always/generally result in a shorter next putt compared to having the flagstick out? Thx!

  3. I’d say it’s a 50 50 pick your risk, if you leave the flag than you can get it in with it stopping it going too fast but also pushing it back. As for leaving it off it gets a bit harder and it can be too fast or far of a shot.

  4. We older golfers often need the flag attended because our eyesight is not so flash on long putts so leaving the flag in, on longer putts, should theoretically speed up the game. Has to be a good thing.
